...there's been a murder in the Red Barn

...there's been a murder in the Red Barn
The "Red Barn" was a thatched timber out-building with a section of it's roof clad in red tiles.

Start at the very beginning...

Ok, that was unexpected.....

I have this song in my head at the moment "Murder In The Red Barn" by Tom Waits - a bluesy southern drawl that I had supposed was a fictional story from the deep south, but on listening to the lyrics, and then googling, it seems i could not be more wrong.

In the Borough of Polstead in Suffolk, England, in the 1827, a grisley CRIME OF PASSION was discovered buried in a farm out-building with a red roof (thereafter known as "The Red Barn"). A guy was convicted and sentenced to death for the crime but vehmently protested his innocence. ALL of the evidence was CIRCUMSTANTIAL, but it seems that the local community wanted JUSTICE to be seem to be DONE, it was a railroad that trampled over proper court procedure.

I was looking for a rich scenario, I could not have imagined one much richer - who did it? Is the surviving evidence sufficient to conclude the guilty party? Worth exploring?
